Introducing multi-currency Virtual Accounts
Get real local account details in your own name across 30+ currencies, receive from platforms like Stripe, Deel, Upwork and Amazon, and convert at interbank rates with FX from 0.2%.
Today we are launching Virtual Accounts, a way to hold and receive money in 30+ currencies using real local account details issued in your own name. That means a US account with ACH and wire routing, a European IBAN, a UK account with a sort code and account number, and more. Instead of routing every payment through a single home-currency account and absorbing conversion costs along the way, you can now be paid the way a local business or resident would be paid, in the currency your customers and platforms already use.
Virtual Accounts were the most requested feature from people who earn or operate across borders. The goal is simple: remove the friction and hidden cost of getting money in, and give you a clear, honest path for converting it when you choose to. mightbank is a financial technology company, not a bank, and we have built these accounts to feel like infrastructure you can rely on rather than a workaround.
Real local details, in your name
Each Virtual Account comes with genuine local payment rails, not a shared pooled account where you are just a reference number. You receive USD via ACH or domestic and international wire, EUR via SEPA into your own IBAN, and GBP via Faster Payments using your sort code and account number. Across the full set of 30+ currencies, the details are presented as your own, so senders see a clean local transfer rather than an awkward cross-border payment that gets flagged or delayed.
This matters most when the other side of the transaction is strict about how it pays. Payroll providers, marketplaces and clients often cannot send to a foreign account, or charge you extra when they do. With local details in the right currency, you sidestep that problem entirely and the money lands faster and more predictably.
Built for how you actually get paid
Virtual Accounts are designed to work with the platforms freelancers, remote workers and online sellers use every day. You can point an existing payout configuration at your new local details and start receiving without changing how your clients or platforms operate on their end. For most people this is a one-time setup that quietly removes a recurring source of fees and delay.
- Receive Stripe payouts into a matching local currency account
- Set Deel and other payroll or contractor payments to your own account details
- Collect Upwork and freelance earnings without forced conversions
- Take Amazon and marketplace settlements in the currency you sell in
- Get paid directly by clients across 180+ countries
Because you hold balances in the original currency, you decide when conversion happens rather than having it forced on you at the moment of payout. If you have costs in the same currency you earned, you can simply spend or send from that balance and skip conversion altogether.
Convert on your terms, at interbank rates
When you do want to move between currencies, you convert at the interbank mid-market rate with FX from 0.2%, and the fee is shown clearly before you confirm. There is no marked-up exchange rate hiding an extra margin inside the number you see. You hold money in 30+ currencies, convert only the amount you need, and keep the rest where it is until you have a reason to move it.
The point of a Virtual Account is control. You choose the currency you are paid in, and you choose if and when you convert, with the real rate and the fee in plain sight.
For anyone who wants their balances to do more than sit still, our Earn product can apply to eligible balances, but it is worth being precise: Earn yield is variable and not guaranteed, and it is separate from the receiving and conversion features described here. Virtual Accounts stand on their own as a way to collect and hold money efficiently, whether or not you ever use Earn.
What shipped, and what is next
At launch you can open Virtual Accounts across 30+ currencies, receive through local rails like ACH, wire, IBAN and sort code, and convert at interbank rates with FX from 0.2%. Coverage spans 180+ countries, and the accounts work alongside the rest of your mightbank balances so everything lives in one place. We have focused first on the currencies and rails that the most people asked for, with reliability as the priority over breadth.
Next, we are expanding the list of supported currencies and local rails, adding more named account details for additional regions, and improving reconciliation tools so incoming payments are easier to match to invoices and clients. We will keep these notes specific and honest as we ship, and we would rather under-promise on timing than overstate what is live. If there is a currency or platform you need, tell us, because that feedback is what shaped this launch.
